FOSTER HOME URGENTLY NEEDED FOR PREGNANT LAB
A Better Life Dog Rescue is in desperate need of a foster home for Belle, a pregnant lab who is due to give birth in one to two weeks. The foster home will need to be in the lower mainland of Vancouver or in the Fraser Valley and will need to make a 12 week commitment as the puppies are nursed and weaned. The puppies and the mom will be rehomed at that time although the foster home will have the option of adopting, free of charge, Belle or one or more of the puppies. Belle is good with kids but is not good with cats or small dogs so we need a home with neither. Medium or large dogs are fine as long as the puppies can be isolated in a room in the home. To inquire about fostering Belle and her soon to arrive puppies please contact foster@betterlifedogrescue.org. For adoption - Tiko the purebred Lhasa Apso
Tiko is a neutered male Shi Tzu apr. nine years old (his breed lives to 15/16 or sometimes longer) who should weigh 18-20 pounds but unfortunately is very overweight. He does not appear to have any health problems because of it according to our vet who checked out (including a geriatric blood panel and urine tests) and all is fine. He shows a slight elevation of protein in his blood but the vet said that is easily controlled through diet. He will lose apr. 2 lbs. a month if kept on his diet and not indulged with snacks, etc. Right now he gets 1/4 can of Medical Mature Food (that is purchased at the vets) three times a day and he has two little treats at night. He weighs 29.4 lbs., he was 32.7 when I got him a month ago so he has already lost some weight. He can walk about 45 minutes and really enjoys it and he can go up all three flights of stairs where he now I lives with me, his foster family. .
He has been to the groomers for a bath, brush and tidy clip and he is not matted - he does not shed but his "fur" will grow very long if not cut and it will need regular brushing. The groomer said he was very good boy.
Tiko's new home will make sure all his needs are met for diet, exercise, grooming, and future health needs.
