Tips for helping animals
You can do more than you think...
* Make a petition and pass it around to all your friends to sign, and also to your family and also to sports groups, social groups, church members, teachers, classmates...so on.
* Make a letter asking the president, minister, king, owner or director of a company, singer, actor, whoever is in favour or supports animal cruelty, urging them to stop that cruelty inmediately. Always make polite letters. Then send them to your 'target". You can make photocopies and give them to your friends/colleagues, so on to sign and send them. Often is better to collect all letters or petitions at once and send them all together, so you will avoid losing them.
* Protest for an animal cause. Check in your telephone directories or online for the closest consulate, embassy, company, etc. in your area. Protests need to be from at least 1/2 hour to 1 hour. Staying longer, it's difficult, because the people who participate has other things to do.
- Call the media one day before: newspapers, big and small, TV... and get everybody to be ready 15 minutes prior to the actual starting time, so when the media shows up, everybody will be ready.
- You can give assignments to different people, so someone reliable can make some placards with another person (the more the better), someone else can make a banner, some one can distribute panflets or fliers...
- Take a megaphone to talk.
If you want to do more...
* Set an informative table at events regarding an specific or several cruelties inflicted to animals. In that way you can educate others!
* Once when you are soaked with information, videos, so on, you can go to schools and talk about those subjects to the students. Beware of what you show or how you talk with young children. I would advice the younger students to be age 8 or older.
* Rescue living beings whenever you have a chance, no matter if it is a spider on your house, an earthworm drowning on the rain or an insect on a busy path, just move them to a safer place and be careful when you catch them and release them for nor hurting them. Teach others to respect all beings too.
* To be a real animal lover the first step is to become vegetarian (or even better vegan). You would save up to 70 animals a year !
* Spay and neuther all your pets and tell others to do it too. Don't buy animals in stores or puppy mills. There are millions out there who need help and someone who loves and care for them. Check your local shelter if you want to adopt or foster an animal in need.
* NEVER give away animals as presents. Often, when they grow up they end up abandoned or get killed. Animals are living sentient beings, not things.
* Don't go to Zoo's and Aquariums. Animals have been kidnapped (and often their mothers are killed in order to capture them). Their life span reduces dramatically and they live in prison for the rest of their life.
* Don't assist to bullfights, rodeos, dogfights, so on. Even if you are curious. Just by paying your ticket, you are helping to maintain those extremely cruel bussiness.
* Buy products of companies that don't test on animals. Millions of animals die after days or years of agony in laboratories in senseless, worthless experiments that doesn't make sense, since their genes and reactions differ enormously from humans.
* Never buy animal parts: ivory, turtle shells, fur. Denounce to the authorities if you see people selling ivory, turtle shells, coral.
* Make a donation to CATCA today !
Every single person counts in the never ending crusade against human evil towards defenceless animals. If not today, maybe tomorrow, but someday we will bring justice to all the living beings without voice in this cruel world, that is the reason we have a compromise with them, never to give up and keep on trying, day after day, week after week, month after month..."
