Since a global ban on whaling in 1986, Japan has continued to kill whales in the name of “scientific research.” Yet legitimate scientists agree: there’s no need to kill whales to research them.

Harpoons using the same explosive grenade heads employed fifty years ago are being used by Japanese whalers to slaughter whales illegally in an international marine mammal sanctuary, like it happened some months ago in the Antartic.

Often, the first blast isn’t enough to kill the poor whale. Japanese whaling ships were recently filmed hoisting live whales up the side of their huge industrial ships by the tail, leaving the whale’s blow hole underwater. The helpless whale can only thrash against the side of the ship, desperate for air, until it slowly drowns.

Norway still hunts whales.  A couple of years ago, they caught 16 Minke whales, 14 were pregnant, and  two males, one male got it's testicles blown up and after 7 shots still struggled for over half an hour until it died. Often they use harpoons that have been banned by the IWC years ago, making the whales suffer a lot before dying.

Japan get's away hunting whales in such a cruel and sick way because it abuses a loophole in the international ban that permits killing whales in order to conduct scientific research.

Under international rules, any meat taken from killing whales for “research” must be sold. Japan openly sells the whale meat in markets and restaurants: despite the fact that whale meat is often extremely toxic from pollutants and dangerous to eat.

This isn’t about killing whales for science, it’s about profit !!!

Japan recently announced plans to double the number of whales it will kill in the next several years, adding two protected species, fin and humpback whales, to its target list. Japan is also using fisheries aid to buy the votes of countries in the International Whaling Commission (IWC) to help pass its pro-whaling agenda.

Japan will launch a return to full-scale industrial whaling; the last of which once drove whales to the brink of extinction.  Only the tremendous resources and clout of the United States has a chance to stop Japan from destroying the world’s whales — if the President acts today.Take Action to Protect Whales: Write a Petition / letter to Stop Whaling

ACT NOW to stop Japanese whaling BEFORE Japan takes over the IWC in one month time and changes the rules of the game to legalize commercial whaling; dooming the world’s whales to gradually disappear.

CAZA DE BALLENAS

Desde la prohibicion global en caza de ballenas en 1986, Japon ha continuado a matar ballenas bajo la excusa de“ investigacion cientifica.”  Sin embargo, cientificos legitimos agregan que" no se necesita matar ballenas para investigarlas/estudiarlas".

Los harpones usan las mismas cabezas explosivas usadas hace 50 anos por los cazadores de ballenas ilegalmente en Sanctuarios de Ballenas Internacionals como paso recientemente en la Antartica.

Noruega todavia caza ballenas estando en segundo lugar luego de Japon. Hace dos anos, en un barco, capturaron 16 ballenas minke: 14 eran hembras prenadas y dos machos. Uno de estos el harpon le destrozo los testiculos y luego de 7 balazos, aun tardo mas de media hora en agonia terrible en fallecer.

A menudo, el primer harponazo no es suficiente para matar  a las pobre ballenas. La flota ballenera fue recientemente filmada alzando una ballena harponeada al lado de uno de sus gigantes barcos industriales de la cola, dejando el hoyo donde las ballenas sacan el agua que tragan y que necesitan para respirar en el agua,para ahogarla. La pobre ballena solo podia aporrearse contra el lado del barco, desesperada por respirar aire, hasta que lentamente se ahogo.

Como pueden los Japoneses salirse con la suya de matar asi tan brutal y cruelmente a ballenas como esta?Japan continua matando ballenas en esta manera porque abusa de un "hoyo" en la prohibicion internacional que permite que se cazen ballenas para conduir investigacion cientifica.

Bajo reglas internacionales, cualquier carne que venga de ballenas cazadas por "investigacion", debe de ser vendida. Lo que Japon ha aprovechado, vendieno carne de ballena abiertamente en mercados y restaurants y hasta dandodelo  a ninos japoneses en escuelas, a pesar de que la carne de ballena es a extremadamente toxico, ya que contiene contaminantes entre ellos mercurio que son muy peligrosos al comer.

Japon recientemente anuncio planes de duplicar el numero de ballenas que matara en los proximos anos, incluyendo dos especies protegidas, la Fin y La Jorobada a su lista. Japan tambien compra votos ayudando a la industria pesquera de paises Caribenos y de Africa, en la Comision Internacional de Caza de Ballenas para comprar votos, esperando levantar el moratorio para poder cazar ballenas hasta extinguirlas.

Japon planea a retornar a una cazar indiscriminadamente a las ballenas. La ultima vez llevaron a las ballenas del mundo al borde del exterminio. Solo la fuerza de los Estados Unidos tiene chance de parar a Japon de destruir las ballenas del mundo.

Escribe una peticion o carta al Presidente Bush con un texto igual o similar a este:

" Por anos el Gobierno Japones a ignorado suplicas de la comunidad internacional para que dejen de cazar ballenas. La unica manera de pararlo es que el Gobierno de los Estados Unidos haga claro que japon vera serias consecuencias si continua cazando ballenas ". Pero eso no va a pasar a menos que los estadounidenses y la gente del mundo hablen ahora. Necesitamos enviar un mensaje claro al Presidente Bush de que salvar ballenas realmente importa.

Pero no se puede hacer sin tu ayuda.

Peticion al Presidente Bush pidiendole que se oponga a la permanente membresia de Japon en la ONU Consejo de Seguridad hasta que Japon obedezca las leyes internacionales de proteccion a las ballenas. Esta ONU Consejo de Seguridad esimportante para Japon. Esto es una consecuencia de que cazar ballenas no puede ser mas ignorada por ellos. Nosotros colectaremos firmas y usaremos la peticion en una campana de publicidd en los medio de comunicacion en los Estados Unidos, para demostrar que la gente de los estados Unidos y el mundo no descansaran hasta que Japon programa de caza de ballenas haya parado.
